Role Description

Rewire News Group is seeking an experienced contract/part-time Grants Writer to support the Development team with identifying, researching, writing, and editing of grant proposals. The PT Grant Writer will work closely with the Development Director and program staff to identify potential funders, research contemporary funding priorities, craft compelling applications, and gather relevant program and organizational information as needed. Rewire is a remote organization, so all collaboration will be online. This is a part-time contract position for up to a total of 200 hours at a pay rate of $80/hr. 

Key Responsibilities

• Research new grant prospects and opportunities from grantors/funders
• Read and interpret Requests for Proposals and funding guidelines
• Review submission requirements and timeline with the Development team
• Responsible for writing grant proposals and supporting documents, as assigned by the Development Director
• Cultivate a deep understanding of the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the organization 

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years’ experience in grant writing or equivalent field; experience with reproductive justice or journalism grants highly preferred
• Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Grant Writing, or related field preferred
• Excellent writing and communication skills with strong attention to detail 
• A successful portfolio of funded grants between $25,000 - $1M+
• A contemporary understanding of what engages journalism and reproductive health/justice funder audiences
• Demonstrated ability to multitask well to meet concurrent deadlines and organize and manage time and priorities.
• High degree of integrity, initiative, and resilience; ability to work independently
• A spirit of collaboration that fosters positive relationships 
• Proficiency with Google Drive, Microsoft Office, and Slack
• Passion for the mission of Rewire News Group
