As Director, Business Development, Europe, you will play a key role in driving business development and sales activities across Europe. You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, recommending, and negotiating value-added development and manufacturing contracts for microbial clients, while contributing to company visibility, growth, and profitability. As part of the Global Business Development Team, you will help translate market opportunities into new client partnerships and long-term business impact.

This role reports to Jörg Ohl, Associate Vice President, Microbial EU Global BD.

A commercial role with broad impact

In this role, you will lead the pursuit of new business opportunities with both new and existing clients across the region. You will develop and execute a territory sales plan to achieve annual sales targets through new deal acquisition, while also formulating and implementing strategies to increase revenue and market share.

You will engage directly with prospective and existing clients, develop proposals that match target profiles, and communicate AGC Biologics’ capabilities effectively. The role also includes leading the closing process for new opportunities, facilitating site visits, and coordinating follow-up communication to move opportunities forward.

Beyond the client dialogue, you will work closely with internal teams across sites to ensure effective handoff and successful execution of new projects. To effectively collaborate across the European BD and global BD team, our Business Development team combines regular virtual communication with a centralized CRM for shared access to information, engages in cross-functional projects with departments such as Marketing and Legal, and adheres to defined workflows, all while operating under a unified strategy that allows for local market adaptation and is reinforced by periodic in-person meetings to strengthen team bonds. You will contribute to regional marketing activities, provide market intelligence based on client interactions, and coordinate technical, legal, and financial due diligence for specific opportunities. You will also represent AGC Biologics at trade shows, conferences, and business meetings.

What we are looking for

  • Proven success in Business Development or Sales, preferably within the CMO/CDMO industry, with 5–8+ years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation-driven communication skills, with the ability to adapt style to audience and context

  • An established network within the biopharmaceutical sector is preferred

  • Willingness to travel globally to AGC Biologics sites and client locations, approximately 50% of the time
