Senior Commercial Underwriter

Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Commercial Underwriter to join a team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a proven ability to independently underwrite complex commercial risks while serving as a technical and consultative resource. Responsibilities

As a Senior Commercial Underwriter, you will:

  • Independently underwrite and price complex commercial risks within your established authority.
  • Analyze financial statements, loss history, inspections, and market data to make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to underwriting peers, sales teams, and agency partners, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with agency partners, supporting complex negotiations and fostering collaboration.
  • Manage the performance of your assigned territory portfolio, ensuring profitability and driving new business production.
  • Monitor market trends and contribute to the development of innovative underwriting strategies.
  • Mentor and share expertise with team members to support their professional growth and development.

Qualifications/Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following:

  • A bachelorโ€™s degree (required); professional insurance designations such as CPCU or ARM are highly preferred.
  • 3โ€“8+ years of commercial underwriting experience, with a focus on complex accounts.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on data and market insights.
  • Excellent consultative and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Proven ability to operate independently and exercise advanced underwriting authority.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within your assigned territory.
