I. Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Develop, implement and achieve grant revenue targets in accordance with BSMH Foundation strategic plan and goals. This position will oversee grant writing including the development and submission of grant documents (letters of inquiry, applications/proposals, updates and reporting. This person will also coordinate with BSMH staff and program leaders (as well as outside parties when appropriate) the identification, evaluation and development of a case for support for funding priorities aligned with BSMH priorities and funder requirements. This person will also maintain accurate information in Raiser's Edge, facilitate proactive grant stewardship and prepare and submit all required reports as scheduled or assigned.

II. Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and submit grant documents (including letters of inquiry, applications/proposals, updates and reporting)

  • Coordinate BSMH staff (and other parties when appropriate) regarding the identification, evaluation, and development of a case for support for funding priorities aligned with BSMH needs and funder requirements

  • Conduct and/or facilitate research required to prepare and develop successful grant proposals or applications and reports

  • Participate proactively in the oversight of grants, coordinate communication among grant managers and funders, and assure the development of successful grants and compliance with funders' reporting requirements

  • Ensure maintenance of accurate information in Raisers' Edge, Financial Edge and other data management systems

  • Conduct and/or participate in designated meetings, committees, trainings, events and activities and conduct kick-off meetings with relevant parties upon announcement of new or renewed grants

  • Facilitate a proactive grant stewardship plan to ensure regular and personalized communication, including annual site visits among funders

  • Prepare reports as scheduled or assigned, ensure compliance with reporting requirements of funders, provide expertise, writing and other support for BSMH Foundation projects as requested.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • 5-7 years of successful grant writing and coordination
  • Proven experience developing winning proposals. Experience with Federal and Maryland State Government grants and housing development funding highly preferred.
  • Experience coordinating multiple high value projects in various stages of the project life cycle, working with grants upward to $2M annually preferred.
  • Full proficiency in the MS365 Suite, especially Excel.
  • Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, Asana, or similar database proficiency, preferred.
  • Ability to independently seek solutions but also work well in a team-based environment.
  • Clear and concise communication skills; oral and technical writing.
  • Strong collaboration skills to coordinate across teams and departments.
  • Ability to work independently and appropriately prioritize workload to meet schedules and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to write, proofread and self-edit content.
