HVAC Technician
Job Summary
The HVAC Technician is responsible for repairing, replacing, and maintaining HVAC systems across multiple properties owned by our client in Miami, Florida. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on mechanical experience, and the ability to maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems and related equipment.
- Service HVAC equipment including recovering refrigerant, repairing leaks, replacing components, and performing system diagnostics.
- Complete minor equipment replacements when required.
- Properly operate HVAC tools and equipment including recovery machines, vacuum pumps, manifold gauges, and oxy-acetylene torches.
- Inspect systems to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Maintain accurate service records, including timesheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
- Communicate effectively with customers upon arrival and before leaving the job site.
- Provide updates to management regarding job progress, issues, or additional service needs.
- Follow all company safety policies and participate in required safety training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Schedule Requirements
- Must be available on-call for emergency service 24/7, as needed.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Journeyman-level knowledge in troubleshooting and servicing HVAC equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control diagrams.
- Strong understanding of air conditioning and refrigeration principles.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems including split systems, air handlers, chillers, VRF systems, and pumps.
- Proficiency with computers and common business software including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet applications.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical individuals.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism when interacting with customers and team members.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull tools, equipment, and materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, and balance to access mechanical equipment.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and mechanical rooms.
- Must be able to reach overhead and handle a variety of hand and power tools.
- Visual acuity required to read diagrams, inspect equipment, and install components.
- Work environment may include exposure to heat, moisture, noise, vibration, and mechanical equipment.
Qualifications
- 2-year degree in HVAC, Air Conditioning, or a related field, or
- 3–5 years of experience in HVAC maintenance, repair, or mechanical systems servicing.
- Experience working with commercial HVAC systems including split systems, air handlers, chillers, VRF systems, and pumps.
- EPA 608 Universal Certification (CFC Certification) required.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience using HVAC diagnostic or programming software.
- Demonstrated professionalism and the ability to represent the company in a positive and ethical manner.
