    Instructional Assistant � Virtual Speech Services

    Location: Monroe High School
    Rate of Pay: $16.00 per hour (see Assistant Master Agreement posted on the Monroe Public Schools website)

    Position Purpose

    Under the direction and supervision of certified staff and related service providers, the Instructional Assistant supports students receiving virtual speech and language services. This position assists students with accessing scheduled virtual sessions, using necessary technology, and participating in services provided by a virtual speech-language provider.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Assist students with accessing scheduled virtual speech and language services through Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or other District-approved platforms.
    • Help students use District-provided computers, cameras, microphones, headphones, and other technology needed to participate in virtual sessions.
    • Ensure students report to the designated location for scheduled services and provide appropriate supervision.
    • Assist with basic technology troubleshooting and communicate technical concerns to appropriate District staff.
    • Prepare and organize materials needed for virtual sessions as directed by the speech-language provider or certified staff.
    • Reinforce activities, skills, or strategies provided by the speech-language provider or educational team, as directed.
    • Communicate student absences, scheduling concerns, or other barriers to services to appropriate staff.
    • Maintain student confidentiality and follow District procedures related to special education services and technology use.
    • Assist with other instructional or student support responsibilities when virtual speech services are not scheduled, as assigned.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Note: This position supports the delivery of virtual speech and language services and does not independently provide speech therapy, evaluate students, develop treatment plans, or determine IEP services.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Completion of 60 or more college credit hours or a passing score on the ETS ParaPro Assessment required.
    • Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
    • Ability to use computers, video conferencing platforms, and related technology.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, and virtual service providers.
    • Must meet applicable District and Intermediate School District requirements for paraprofessional personnel assigned to special education programs.
