Overview

The Business Systems Analyst is primarily responsible for providing Association level data analytics through the extraction, analysis, and interpretation of data from Salesforce and other data management systems. Applying data analysis and descriptive statistics, the Business Systems Analyst will develop maintain, and customize reports, visualizations, dashboards, and metrics using Salesforce and other data platforms. The role translates data into actionable insights by aligning tactical data with strategic goals and outcome measurement and fosters a culture of data-informed decision making by building trust in data, establishing standards, and developing reports and reporting guidelines. This is a journey-level job in this series. Incumbents work independently under general supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Using Salesforce and other data management systems, leads complex data analytics projects, ensuring accurate data collection, quality assurance, transformation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Synthesizes complex datasets into actionable insights and descriptive statistics to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Develops, automates, and maintains reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to operationalize and track KPIs, assess program effectiveness, and measures outcomes to support Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and data-informed decision-making.
  • Partners with Measurement, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) and IT teams to optimize data collection, analysis, reporting, and usage while ensuring data integrity, quality, and reliability; proactively audit systems for inconsistencies and implement rigorous quality assurance protocols to maintain high standards of data health.
  • Develops clear reporting guidelines, documents assumptions, and provides training to staff to improve Association-wide data literacy and system adoption.
  • Interfaces with program subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather context and ensures accurate interpretation of program and outcome data.
  • Maintains data governance through documentation, historical methodologies, and reproducible processes related to data sources and reporting.
  • Serves as a liaison with key departments to ensure collaboration and alignment on data and business needs.
  • Participates in all required staff meetings, training, YMCA staff development events, and appropriate agencywide committees to align systems analysis with broader mission goals.
  • Strong proficiency in Salesforce analytics tools, data extraction, and reporting to inform operational or strategic business decisions.
  • Exposure to Salesforce Data Cloud, CRM Analytics (Einstein Analytics), or Einstein AI tools for predictive modeling and automated insights
  • Strong proficiency in essential business software including Microsoft Office suite (e.g., advanced Excel for data model creation) and data processing and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, KPI development, and data quality management protocols.
  • Basic understanding of relational database concepts including SQL and Salesforce-specific data structures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to translate complex data and system issues into actionable, non-technical insights for stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot system issues and exercise sound independent judgment.
  • Proven ability to quickly master and integrate new technologies and evolving data systems.
  • Strong capacity to work effectively and cooperatively across all organizational levels.
  • Self-starter with high integrity, flexibility, and the ability to manage independent projects from end to end.
  • Demonstrated ability to use descriptive statistics to monitor performance and support Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistical Analysis, Social Sciences, Computer Programming, Business Administration, or 4+ years' equivalent experience required
  • 4+ years' of full-time experience in data modeling, data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence in Salesforce to use descriptive statistics to monitor performance and support Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $34.43 - USD $41.32 /Hr.
