Senior AI Engineer

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer who will design, prototype, and refine AI agents, orchestration logic, and LLM-driven workflows.

This role combines agent and orchestration design, behaviour engineering, lightweight prototyping, and targeted evaluation, together with a pragmatic level of development capability to deliver functional POCs and reference implementations.

The Senior AI Engineer plays a key technical role in validating how AI-driven solutions should behave before they are handed over to enterprise development teams or integrated into production platforms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Agent & Orchestration Design

• Design agent behaviours, reasoning flows, interaction patterns, delegation rules, and tool-use strategies.
  
• Develop orchestration logic for multi-step, multi-agent, and tool-augmented workflows.
  
• Recommend optimal agentic patterns (planner–executor, cooperative agents, routing agents, etc.).
  
• Collaborate with AI/IT architects to align designs with overall solution architecture.
  

2. Prompting & Behaviour Engineering

• Create and refine prompts, system instructions, behavioural frameworks, validation rules, and safety guidelines.
  
• Experiment with prompting techniques to improve consistency and reasoning quality.
  
• Contribute to reusable prompt libraries and behavioural templates.
  
• Ensure secure prompting practices and promote safe AI usage.
  

3. Prototyping & Evaluation

• Build lightweight prototypes and POCs to validate agent logic and orchestration patterns.
  
• Compare alternative approaches and document design decisions and constraints.
  
• Provide clear recommendations to architects and development teams.
  

4. Evaluation & Quality Assurance

• Run structured evaluations (reasoning consistency, tool-use correctness, stability).
  
• Identify hallucinations, edge cases, and failure patterns; propose improvements.
  
• Prepare focused test scenarios and interpret results.
  
• Recommend improvements to prompts, agent logic, retrieval, and interaction design.
  

5. RAG/CAG Prototype Development

• Build early-stage RAG/CAG pipelines focusing on:
  • Retrieval relevance
    
  • Chunking logic
    
  • Embedding strategies
    
  • Context assembly
    
• Evaluate retrieval quality for production architecture decisions.
  

6. Engineering Partnership

• Collaborate with engineers to validate feasibility and maintainability.
  
• Develop minimal prototype code and reference implementations.
  
• Focus on validation and enablement rather than full application development.
  

7. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

• Work with architects, engineers, and business teams.
  
• Share best practices in agent design, prompting, and orchestration.
  
• Support adoption of LLM-based solutions.
  

8. Continuous Learning

• Track trends in agentic architectures and evaluation methods.
  
• Help define internal standards and reusable design patterns.
  
• Contribute to team capability building.
  

Requirements

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with AI agents, orchestration flows, and multi-step reasoning.
  
• Hands-on prototyping experience (Python, Node.js, notebooks, sandbox tools).
  
• Familiarity with frameworks (Semantic Kernel, LangChain, AutoGen, etc.).
  
• Solid prompt engineering expertise.
  
• Understanding of RAG/CAG and vector search.
  
• Experience with testing, evaluation, and result interpretation.
  
• Knowledge of AI security, privacy, and risk considerations.
  
• Optional: Azure AI services experience.
