In this role, you will have a significant impact on shaping the data and privacy legal landscape across the US and broader Americas. As a key partner to senior stakeholders, you will directly influence the strategy and implementation of robust data protection practices. Accountabilities

  • Serve as lead data and privacy counsel for the US and Americas region.
  • Provide business-oriented advice on data protection, AI, and cybersecurity.
  • Spearhead global AI governance development and implementation.
  • Develop and execute privacy and data protection compliance programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on privacy and security initiatives.
  • Draft and negotiate data protection and data-sharing agreements.
  • Oversee international data flows and ensure proper governance.
  • Co-lead incident response for data and security incidents.
  • Advise on high-risk processing activities involving new technologies.
  • Support regulatory interactions with US and Americas authorities.
  • Contribute to the development of privacy workflow tools and processes.
  • Provide training on data privacy and cybersecurity for various teams.

Requirements

  • U.S. legal qualification and active license to practice in one jurisdiction.
  • 8+ years of experience in-house or private practice focused on data and privacy.
  • Strong knowledge of US privacy laws and their intersection with financial regulations.
  • Experience advising on adtech and consent management requirements.
  • Proven ability to translate legal requirements into technical solutions.
  • Familiarity with emerging AI legal requirements and governance best practices.
  • Experience with data privacy incident management and remediation planning.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying legal concepts for non-lawyers.
  • High degree of ownership and ability to manage multiple complex projects.
