SUMMARY
Responsible for the design, development, and testing of object-oriented and service-oriented software applications, databases, and proprietary reporting tools specific to underwriting program needs. Provides program and underwriting support, including market research, to enhance operational and technical efficiencies and capabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, test, and implement business software applications in order to provide underwriters and program leaders with multi-functional reporting tools.
Design, establish, and maintain infrastructure for databases for collection of data.
Audit system processing to track and correct software errors, hardware errors, and performance issues.
Serve as a resource for general problem-solving of any program level issues in the areas of operations, efficiencies, etc.
Support the development of cross-program client services.
Participate in the research and development of program differentiators.
Provide data collection, aggregation, and research of new program opportunities.
Establish and manage the distribution of program production and profitability analysis.
Support the development of annual rate plans for each program.
Review and assist with large account placement; including evaluation of underwriting and profitability.
Assist in comparative analysis of various program guidelines and rates.
Provide competitor research and coverage comparisons.
Follow through on communications of program differentiators.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in computer technology or equivalent combination of education and experience
Four (4) or more years of experience in software development using object oriented languages; primary development language is C#, and other languages and protocols including R and Python.
Four (4) or more years of experience using .Net framework
Experience with carriers, MGA’s, and wholesale brokerages
Experience and knowledge of SQL and VBA
Experience with designing and developing reporting and underwriting tool
SKILLS
Detailed understanding of specific program underwriting, database infrastructure, and general data needs
Extensive knowledge and experience with catastrophe modeling platforms including RMS and AIR
Understanding of relational database design, normalization models, and advanced understanding of SQL
Skilled in developing n-tier .NET applications in a service oriented architecture
Proficient in Microsoft Office; skilled in data driven Microsft Office document generation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
