 Our client, a reputable Commercial Lines Insurance Carrier, is expanding their underwriting team and seeking a results-driven Senior Field Commercial Lines Underwriter to join their Middle Market division. In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of middle market accounts, building strong agency relationships, and contributing to profitable growth throughout the Colorado region. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, sound underwriting judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote environment. This position offers a remote schedule with occasional travel required for agency visits and meetings 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and manage a portfolio of middle market commercial lines accounts to achieve profitability and growth objectives.
  • Review new and renewal business, analyzing risk exposure, coverage needs, and pricing in alignment with company guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with independent agents and brokers to drive new business opportunities.
  • Provide responsive service and underwriting expertise to agency partners, including guidance on appetite, coverage, and pricing.
  • Evaluate agency performance and identify opportunities for book growth and retention.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including claims, product, and risk control, to ensure effective account management.
  • Stay informed on market conditions, emerging risks, and competitor activity to adjust underwriting strategies accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, underwriting guidelines, and internal policies.
 
Qualifications
  • 5 – 10+ years of experience in Commercial Lines Underwriting, with a focus on middle market accounts preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, coverages, and underwriting practices.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with agents and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to make sound underwriting decisions and manage a book of business independently.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or related field preferred.
