The Akamai Inference Cloud team is part of Akamai's Cloud Technology Group. The SDET II role involves overseeing quality and observability strategies for platform infrastructure components, ensuring services meet global reliability standards. Responsibilities include designing automated testing frameworks, building telemetry systems, and implementing monitoring solutions. This position provides opportunities to address AI infrastructure quality challenges and validate systems supporting inference workloads.

As a Software Development Engineer in Test II, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and implementing automated test frameworks and CI/CD quality gates for platform infrastructure services including orchestration, networking, and data plane components
• Building and maintaining observability infrastructure including distributed tracing, metrics collection, log aggregation, and alerting systems
• Developing integration and end-to-end test suites that validate multi-region deployment scenarios and platform reliability under load
• Collaborating with software engineers to define testability requirements, improve code coverage, and establish quality benchmarks
• Contributing to incident response and post-mortem processes by analyzing telemetry data and identifying reliability improvements

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Demonstrate proficiency in test automation frameworks and CI/CD quality integration practices
• Show experience with observability tools and platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, OpenTelemetry, or ELK stack
• Have familiarity with cloud-native testing patterns including container-based test environments, Kubernetes testing, and infrastructure validation
• Demonstrate experience writing test code in languages such as Go, Python, or Java
• Show understanding of distributed systems testing challenges including eventual consistency, fault injection, and load testing
• Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to identify systemic quality issues from telemetry data
