Soil Sampler Assistant, Seasonal - Red Dog Mine, AK

Individuals will provide soil sampling support to the exploration field teams during the 2026 field season.  Activities will include daily mobilization from the field camp sites to various locations and participation in the field activities under the direction of the Field Team lead. 

*This position is supporting a seasonal 6-week project starting in July 2026*

• Navigate to sample location using a handheld GPS.
• Collect a soil and rock chip samples per protocols.
• Help keep accurate notes and records for each sample and location.
• Ensure samples are complete and in order.
• Ensure field gear, supplies and equipment are in order.
• Report all safety, environmental and security incidents to site management immediately.
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
• Other duties may be assigned, especially on weather day, as needed.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Must be physically able to work long hours and carry heavy loads, with some days of significant walking.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather in an arctic/sub-arctic environment.
• Experience with remote sampling field work and data management is a plus.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors/Outdoors – Frequent exposure to moderate to harsh weather conditions. Requires work to be done both inside and outside.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Description of environment: Frequently required to be outside at construction/project sites. Also occasionally inside in standard office setting.

Physical requirements:  Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

Travel: Employee will travel to remote areas and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.
