[About the Role]
Join our dynamic team in Fort Worth, TX, as a Technical Editor/Writer supporting the F-16 program. In this impactful position, you will leverage your technical expertise to create, update, and modernize essential maintenance and operations manuals that keep our advanced military aircraft mission-ready. [Responsibilities]
- Research, author, and edit comprehensive technical content for F-16 aircraft maintenance and operations in alignment with military specifications.
- Convert legacy SGML technical manuals to S1000D (XML) format, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Apply style guides and formatting standards to produce clear, user-focused documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and sustainment teams to gather technical data and validate content.
- Review and validate technical manuals for clarity, accuracy, and compliance before release.
- Support ongoing updates to publications based on customer feedback, operational findings, and aircraft configuration changes.
- Manage documentation schedules and deliverables, ensuring timely and high-quality outputs.
- Utilize content management systems and advanced publishing tools to produce electronic and printed materials.
- Ensure all publications meet rigorous quality assurance benchmarks and pass both internal and external audits.
[Required Skills and Experience]
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with aircraft systems (such as Hydraulics, Avionics, Propulsion, etc.).
- At least 2 years working with SGML or XML tagging for technical publications.
- 2+ years of technical writing experience in an aerospace or defense environment.
- Solid understanding of military documentation standards and publication requirements.
- Exceptional written communication and editing skills with meticulous attention to detail.
[Preferred Skills]
- Prior experience in military aircraft maintenance.
- Familiarity with S1000D, Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM), and composite environments.
- Proficiency in Epic Editor, Isodraw, ArborText Tool Suite, or similar XML/SGML-based applications.
