About the Opportunity
Akicita is seeking a Technical Writer to develop end-user guidance for a nationwide Indian Health Service (IHS) immunization reporting project.
This is a remote, part-time engagement (approximately 600 hours over a 12-month base period beginning August 2026).

What You'll Do
• Author a comprehensive User Operations Guide covering five IHS immunization data systems (RPMS, CRS, iCARE, NIRS/NVC dashboard, GPRA reporting)
• Translate complex technical and clinical-data concepts into clear, plain-language, step-by-step instructions for providers and program staff
• Develop flowcharts, templates, annotated example reports and screenshots, and click-path workflows
• Create standardized guidance documents on when and how to use each reporting system
• Support development of training products: participant workbooks, quick reference guides, and job aids
• Apply consistent style, structure, and Section 508 accessibility standards across all deliverables; manage document versions through Government review cycles
$47 - $48 an hour
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Public Health, Technical Communications, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience developing user guides, standard operating procedures, training materials, technical documentation, and end-user communications
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience translating technical concepts into user-friendly guidance for non-technical audiences
• Healthcare, health IT, or federal agency documentation experience; EHR or clinical reporting documentation a strong plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word/PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and diagramming tools; plain-language (PLAIN) and 508 remediation experience
• Experience writing for clinical audiences (physicians, nurses, pharmacists)
