The Applications Database Administrator provides comprehensive database administration support for the DTMO Enterprise Infrastructure operating environments, including Oracle (version 19c or higher) and Microsoft SQL (version 2014 or higher). This position is responsible for developing technical specifications, designing, developing, modifying, testing, and managing databases within DTMO's multi-tier architecture. The Applications Database Administrator monitors and optimizes database performance, tunes database operations, and ensures data processing and monitoring is performed during core business hours (0600 to 2200 Eastern Time, Monday through Friday) and on an on-call basis for mission-critical incidents at all other times. The position supports database tools such as Structured Query Language Server Integration Services (SSIS), database clustering, database mirroring, and replication. The Applications Database Administrator coordinates with DMDC to analyze and recommend data security standards, perform analyses on
scalability of data storage, and support Data Backup and Disaster Recovery activities including Information System Contingency Plans (ISCP) and Business Impact Analyses (BIA). This position also supports annual Continuity of Operations (COOP) exercises to ensure availability of the DTMO Passport website.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance or supervision:
• Provide database administration support for Oracle (version 19c or higher) and Microsoft SQL (version 2014 or higher) environments
• Develop technical specifications, design, develop, modify, test, and manage databases in DTMO's multi-tier architecture
• Monitor and optimize database performance and tune database operations
• Ensure data processing and monitoring is performed during core hours (0600 to 2200 Eastern Time, Monday through Friday) and on an on-call basis for mission-critical incidents at all other times
• Maintain and fine-tune databases through utilities and software packages aimed at monitoring the state of the database
• Support database tools such as Structured Query Language Server Integration Services (SSIS) or any other tools DTMO may procure
• Support database clustering, database mirroring, and replication
• Execute application implementation and upgrades of DTMO Enterprise systems
• Support data purging activities according to appropriate DoW policy and DTMO guidelines
• Conduct semi-annual SOP reviews
• Test and validate backups coordinating with DMDC once a quarter and document in the Monthly Status Report
• Facilitate connections to external data sources so that data can be ingested into DTMO databases
• Perform SQL tuning and re-write code as necessary
• Setup and maintain documentation and standards
• Administer (create/update/delete/reorganize) all database objects (tables/views/indexes/sequences/clusters/packages/procedures/triggers)
• Perform data scrubs and refresh data in requested regions
• Plan and implement data security (database object access and management)
• Enforce database constraints to ensure integrity of the DTMO databases
• Coordinate with DMDC to analyze and recommend data security standards and maintain storage data security
• Coordinate with DMDC to perform analyses on scalability of data storage
• Monitor current disk usage statistics and storage capacity
• Coordinate with DMDC to support Data Backup and Disaster Recovery reports including Information System Contingency Plan (ISCP) and system-focused Business Impact Analysis (BIA) for each IT services supported system
• Coordinate with DMDC to support annual Continuity of Operations (COOP) exercises to ensure availability of DTMO Passport website
