Summary:
The Senior AKS Engineer is responsible for designing, building, automating, and supporting enterprise Kubernetes platforms within Microsoft Azure. This role requires deep hands-on expertise with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), cloud-native technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD automation, and platform operations in large-scale production environments.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, deploy, manage, and optimize Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters.
Administer Kubernetes workloads, node pools, ingress, scaling, networking, and storage.
Build and maintain Docker containers and Kubernetes deployment configurations.
Implement and support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as Azure Monitor, Prometheus, and Grafana.
Troubleshoot Kubernetes, infrastructure, networking, and application deployment issues.
Implement Kubernetes and Azure security best practices including RBAC, network policies, secrets management, and workload identity.
Support high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and platform reliability initiatives.
Collaborate with development and architecture teams to improve platform scalability and deployment efficiency.
Create and maintain operational documentation, standards, and runbooks.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from a Four (4) year College or University.
5+ years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Kubernetes administration.
Strong experience with:
Microsoft Azure
Kubernetes
Docker
Terraform or Infrastructure as Code
Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions
Experience with Helm, ingress controllers, and Kubernetes networking concepts.
Strong troubleshooting skills in production cloud environments.
Experience with monitoring and logging platforms.
Knowledge of Azure networking, DNS, load balancing, and cloud security best practices.
Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
