Physicist, Part-Time AI Physics Problem Solving - Remote (United States)

• Under 20 hours a week, you choose when
Apply your physics judgment to help evaluate and improve scientific AI systems, on a flexible part-time schedule.
AI training is the human work behind artificial intelligence: experts write and review the solutions that models learn from. The teams building these models need physicists who can work through advanced scientific problems, write rigorous derivations with clear assumptions and intermediate steps, check whether the reasoning is correct and reproducible, and explain ambiguities or errors precisely. Your derivations help test and improve how AI systems reason about physics. This is that work, done remotely around your schedule.
What you'll do
• Write step-by-step solutions to advanced physics problems, with the derivation laid out clearly in LaTeX
• Lay out the assumptions and approximations, show the reasoning that leads to the final result, and cover special cases and boundary conditions
• Run symbolic and numerical checks in SymPy, Python and Jupyter, including dimensional consistency
• Resolve unclear points in problem statements, propose defensible interpretations and apply reviewer feedback
Why this is worth your time
• Get paid $100–$200 an hour to build real AI skills
• Write the derivations and checks that teach AI systems to reason through physics, across fields from condensed matter to cosmology
• Put your research judgment to work on AI physics problem solving, with clear, reproducible solutions and reviewer feedback
• Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute
Who this is for
• Preferred: a physics PhD, a PhD candidacy at an advanced stage, or postdoctoral research experience in physics
• Strong analytical ability, clear technical writing and professional fluency in English
• Working knowledge of Jupyter, Python, SymPy and LaTeX, plus two to five recent representative publications, each publicly accessible through arXiv or a DOI
• No AI experience needed.
Pay and details
• $100–$200 per hour, paid hourly as an independent contractor
• Part-time, flexible schedule; fully remote, United States
• An 8 to 10 week project period, with consistent availability needed
