Fully flexible schedule

Create and evaluate difficult engineering and physical science problems that test AI systems against real technical constraints, on your own schedule.

AI companies need principal-level engineers, scientists, and faculty to design problems that show whether an AI system can reason through real technical work. You will build realistic scenarios with supporting data, provide a correct solution, and set standards that let another expert check the result. This is that work, done remotely around your schedule.

What you'll do

• Create demanding questions in your engineering or physical science specialty, with real constraints and supporting data

• Provide a correct solution and explain the reasoning so another expert can verify it

• Set clear standards that let reviewers make consistent correctness decisions

• Review submitted problems for technical accuracy and flag work that cannot be graded reliably

Why this is worth your time

• Get paid $85–$185 an hour

• Apply principal-level judgment across aerospace, semiconductors, manufacturing, industrial engineering, materials science, or another relevant area

• Work directly on AI training tasks by writing solutions, defining correctness, and evaluating technical work

• Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute

Who this is for

• A PhD or master's degree in engineering, physics, materials, or another closely related field

• Hands-on principal, staff, or fellow-level work at a major engineering organization or government research lab, or a faculty appointment at a leading university

• Deep expertise in one or more relevant engineering or physical science specialties

• Technical judgment and clear communication, with the ability to validate proposed solutions

• Professional fluency in English

• Helpful evidence includes publications, patents, or technical leadership that demonstrates practical ownership of complex technical or scientific work

No AI experience needed.

Pay and details

• $85–$185 hourly under an independent-contractor arrangement

• Part-time, fully flexible schedule; fully remote, United States
