Introduction

The role of the RE shall be to assist with project coordination, project scope definition, construction monitoring, project management, and project administration. The RE shall be able to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver the project to meet client objectives

IMPORTANT : this is a relief position 01 Nov 2026 to 28 Feb 2027 this is a relief position> thereafter a discussion will be had around staying on.

Duties & Responsibilities

The RE will be responsible for multiple projects in different provinces within the country and will be responsible, amongst others, for the following:

 

• Conduct project management and contract administration services of civil engineering projects

• Conduct construction supervision services by monitoring day to day aspects of projects including quality of work, schedule, coordinating, client communications, and produce regular reports about project progress.

• Work with various project stakeholders, specialists, and authorities.

• Maintain quality assurance, demonstrate technical excellence, apply quality management norms and standards and safety.

• Write and compile project reports.

• Review Contractor’s Key personnel CVs

• Review Contractor’s Methodology for critical aspects of the project

• Review the Contractor’s Quality Control Plan

• Review Contractor’s Quality Control file & ensure its up to date

• Prepare Contract letters in response to Contractual claims

• Evaluate Claims if required & issue IPCs on time

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Ndip, BSc or BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering

• Minimum five (5 to 7) years’ relevant experience in civil engineering projects e.g., roads, stormwater drainage, water supply, sewer, bulk earthworks.

• Thorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO / COTO, SANS 1200, project specific etc.) & Conditions of Contract (SAICE GCC, FIDIC, NEC).

• Proficient Microsoft Project (or similar programming software) and Microsoft Office skills required. E.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint etc.

• Registration or working towards registration as a Professional Technician (PrTechni); Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) / Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) with ECSA.
