As the firm continues to grow, Pitre James is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to step into a key leadership role within the organization. This is a high-impact position that will contribute directly to firm operations, client delivery, and long-term growth.

The successful candidate will oversee complex engagements, contribute to strategic decision-making, and play an active role in shaping the future of the firm. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of complex client files while ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services. You will lead review engagements, support advanced tax planning initiatives, and build strong client relationships, while also identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance overall efficiency.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and review compilation and review engagements, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timeliness across all deliverables;
  • Prepare and review complex corporate, personal, and trust income tax returns for a diverse client base;
  • Support and execute advanced tax planning strategies and corporate reorganizations;
  • Manage larger and more complex corporate group structures, providing insight and guidance to clients;
  • Collaborate closely with firm leadership on operational decisions, workflow management, and long-term planning;
  • Monitor engagement budgets, timelines, and overall file performance, ensuring deadlines are consistently met;
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact;
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and client service delivery;
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior team members as required;
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Highly self-sufficient with strong technical expertise and the ability to operate independently in a remote environment;
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in real time;
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with the judgment to know when to seek input and when to take initiative;
  • Strong business acumen, with an interest in contributing beyond core technical work;
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with clients and colleagues;
  • Detail-oriented with a high standard of accuracy and accountability;
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation (required) or equivalent depth of experience;
  • 7+ years of progressive public practice experience, with exposure to complex engagements;
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and Canadian tax (corporate, personal, and trust);
  • Demonstrated experience with review engagements and financial reporting;
  • Experience with CaseWare/CaseView, TaxPrep, and Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Previous experience working in a remote or hybrid environment is considered an asset.

This full-time opportunity offers a competitive total compensation package in the range of $100,000 to $130,000 annually, plus benefits, with the opportunity for increased responsibility and compensation growth over time.

This role is fully remote and open to candidates located anywhere in Canada. The position is best suited for a senior professional who is comfortable taking ownership of their portfolio, managing deadlines independently, and contributing at a leadership level within a collaborative, high-performing team.
