An innovative technology business operating at the intersection of software, IoT, telemetry and utility infrastructure is looking for a Software Engineer to join its growing technical team.
This role will focus on developing and maintaining software solutions used to remotely monitor distributed utility infrastructure, turning data from meters, sensors, PLCs and connected devices into reliable, actionable information.

The successful candidate will work across software development, data integration, cloud platforms and industrial/IoT systems, contributing to solutions that provide real-time visibility of electricity, water, energy and other utility infrastructure.

Duties & Responsibilities

An innovative technology business operating at the intersection of software, IoT, telemetry and utility infrastructure is looking for a Software Engineer to join its growing technical team.

This role will focus on developing and maintaining software solutions used to remotely monitor distributed utility infrastructure, turning data from meters, sensors, PLCs and connected devices into reliable, actionable information.

The successful candidate will work across software development, data integration, cloud platforms and industrial/IoT systems, contributing to solutions that provide real-time visibility of electricity, water, energy and other utility infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain software applications for remote utility monitoring.
  • Develop and integrate REST APIs and data services.
  • Build systems that ingest and process real-time telemetry from field devices.
  • Integrate software with IoT gateways, smart meters, sensors, PLCs and monitoring platforms.
  • Develop dashboards, reporting functionality, alarms and notification systems.
  • Work with time-series and relational databases to store and analyse utility data.
  • Develop reliable data pipelines for distributed and remote infrastructure.
  • Investigate system issues, troubleshoot software and resolve bugs.
  • Implement automated testing and maintain high software quality standards.
  • Assist with cloud deployment, system configuration and ongoing platform improvements.
  • Work closely with engineers, technicians and product stakeholders to translate operational requirements into software solutions.
  • Develop scalable solutions capable of supporting multiple sites and large volumes of monitoring data.
  • Contribute to cybersecurity, authentication, access control and secure data transmission.
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation and software development best practices.

Technical Environment

Experience with some of the following technologies will be advantageous:

Requirements

  • BSc / BEng / Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
  • Software development experience.
  • Strong programming and software engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience developing production software rather than purely academic projects.
  • Experience working with databases and APIs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, data communication or IoT environments will be highly advantageous.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
